New Jersey poet Murat Nemat-Nejat and Illinois poet Beth Copeland Vargo will read their work after a special open reading to honor those who died on September 11, 2001; for that open, regional writers are asked to read from their own work or that of another writer relating to the tragic events of September 11, 2001. All contributions will benefit the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council World Views Program. Murat Nemat-Nejat was born in Istanbul, Turkey, in 1940 from Persian-Jewish parents. Beth Copeland Vargo won Bright Hill Press's 1998-99 National Poetry Book Award, and her manuscript Traveling Through Glass was published by Bright Hill in 2000.
